Kakrina lies only 5 km away from Brestovo village and 17 km to the East from the district center Lovech. Driving on the road Lovech – Sevlievo there is a big brown information board showing the way to the village. The village of Kakrina is very important to all Bulgarians from historical point of view.
The ancient village was situated close to the local dam, where remains of old roads still can be found, and a big ritual stone with a hole in it lies by the road. Kakrinsko hanche /Kakrina Inn/ is a place closely related to the history of Bulgarian liberation from the Ottoman Empire and the revolutionary activities of the prominent Bulgarian Vassil Levski.
Today Kakrina has about 340 inhabitants. The climate in the area is favorable for growing different medical plants /cultivated oregano/ and many wild herbs grow in the fields and forests. A small factory for drying and packaging of herbs provides jobs for the local people. There is a farm in the village with more than 200 milk cows.
